Beagle Tails

Beagles are a very friendly, sociable, mischievous bunch! They make us laugh, cry and scream with frustration but that's why we love them so much!

Everyone who has  ever had a beagle will no doubt have lots of funny little tails to tell… so why not share them with us!

Cupboard

Jem had only been with us a few weeks, she was the new baby of the family, so we had a lot of visitors popping in and out to welcome her.  One afternoon My daughter came to visit with her two children, Sarah, Darren Jake and Chloe all crammed through the front door, I set to work making a cuppa for everyone, then we all sat down ready to admire Jem - But where was she? Upstairs? Outside? In the hall? No no no! oh dear she didn't run through the front door when everyone came in did she? She was so small.. Could easily have slipped out…
A search party was organised we scowled the neighbours gardens, under the hedge row, along the road side - terrified as beagles don't understand the rules of the road!
Tired and shattered with hopes dashed and tears in our eyes we returned home. Still no sight or sound of Jem.  Well calm down. Have a cup of tea then re group.
It was at that moment that we opened the cupboard door…. And out rolled a very fat beagle pup! Jem had happily eaten her way through an entire box of dog sausage rolls! No wonder she hadn't made any noise!
But now another problem a 10 week old beagle pup with a 1kg box of biscuits in her tum, that can't be good for her so we rushed her down to the vets. Who sent her back home with a clean bill of health but on orders of no tea!

Slurry

We were enjoying a beautiful walk along the river admiring the scenery. Taking in the wonderful smell of the country side - Well Jem took this a bit too far!!
You see the farmer had recently sprayed his fields with muck, Jem must have heard somewhere that this can improve her coat. She rolled in it - covering her entire body not leaving an inch of fur uncovered!
There was no point in trying to chase her she had already done the deed!
The smell was horrendous! We refused to put her in the car so she had to take a walk home - then it was time for some cold hose pipe treatment!

Fish

We probably should have stayed at home in hindsight, it was snowing and blowing a blizzard! But still we decided to go down the river with the dogs. As we struggled along in the terrible weather conditions constantly calling to the dogs, we noticed a terrible smell. The river had been in flood and as the water went down fish had been left, in the field. So what had Jem done? You guessed it she rolled in it! (must be something
beagles think) Only this time the smell was worse! And how do you get rid of the
rotten smell of fish??
After six baths and various shampoos Jem smelt a little better!
Note to self: When you can't see further than your nose in a blizzard keep beagle on a lead!

Jem Meets a Mobile!

I have known the Lee family for many years now, but have become alot closer

in the last 4 years since knowing Amy.

One very wet evening i went down to see "The Lees" and nightmare strck!! We

were all socialising in the lounge when Jem was very quiet, little did we

know what she was doing, until she waltzed in with my mobile phone strap

all chewed..........The crafty "Cute" little Beagle had only climbed on to

the kitchen table and pinched my mobile phone.......but the mobile was

nowhere to be seen and seemed to be switched off. After asking Jem where

she had put it, she seemed somewhat unresponsive, so the search began and

questions started.Had she eaten it? Had she burried it? etc. Then after a

frantic panic.....it was found!(Under the table and undamaged- along with

Jem's toy that she was also chewing!!)

The moral of the story was- NEVER LEAVE A BEAGLE ALONE!!
